I had the same problem with MSV7.1 and resolved it by using project setting: /Gm, which is under C/C++/Code Generation. Basically, you need to reduce the debug information. [tuple] weird compile error with VC-8_0

Hi, I am getting this error message, when using boost::tuple: include\boost\tuple\detail\tuple_basic.hpp(373) : error C2039: 'tail' : is not a member of 'boost::tuples::cons<HT,TT>' 1> with 1> [ 1> HT=UTX::DB::nulled_type<unsigned char>, 1> TT=boost::tuples::null_type 1> ] The referred line is the templated constructor of the non-specialised struct cons: template <class HT2, class TT2> cons( const cons<HT2, TT2>& u ) : head(u.head), tail(u.tail) {} So it seems that somehow the non-specialised method is called for the specialised template instantiation. Has anybody seen something like this? Is there a way to circumvent it? Thx ImRe

[thread]MFC based console application cause memory leak?

I’ve written a MFC based console application to test boost.thread library. However, IDE suggested that there are memory leaks in the program. All that I’ ve done is creating a class A which implements operator () and declared an instance of boost::thread which make use of A. How can that make memory leak? My IDE is vs.net 2003 and my OS is windows xp sp1. Too bad :( Sometimes playing with some compiler settings can solve this kind of issues: in particular, if you're in debug mode you can try switching from /ZI (Program Database for Edit and Continue) to a less demanding type of debugging information (/Zi, /Z7 or /Zd): this has worked for me in the past for other libraries. Other than this, your options are getting back to your original situation (with slow compile times) or, if you can afford it, follow Thorsten's wise advice and upgrade to a reasonable compiler like MSVC 7.1. Cannot build boost on MSVS8 per instructions

I am attempting to build and install boost_1_33_1 using the MSVS 8 instructions at http://www.boost.org/tools/build/v1/vc-8_0-tools.html and the prebuilt bjam boost-jam-3.1.13-1-ntx86.zip <http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/boost/boost-jam-3.1.13-1-ntx86.zip?downl oad> and bjam fails (apparently) with a "send error report" dialog every time it is run. I also tried the instructions at http://lists.boost.org/boost-users/2006/09/21938.php with the same results. What am I doing wrong? Do I have the wrong version of bjam.exe? Try use /Zi instead of /ZI from C/C++/General/Debug Information Format. Also add /Zm800 in Additional Options from C/C++/Command Line. adding objects as bundled properies

Hi all, I'm completely new to the boost graph library. I was wondering whether instead of defining structs and add them as bundled properties to the vertices and edges one can also simply add classes and insert instances of these classes? If this is possible, can anyone explain how this can be done and what the interface of these classes must look like? ciao Tom

As I currently understand boost.test, it provides its own main function. If I want to make a separate executable to run the tests, that seems straight forward. But how would I embed the testing inside a normal program with a simple command-line switch for running them?
