I am finishing my application to the (M)ulti (I)ndex (S)pecialized (C)ontainers (from now on MISC, do you like it?) for the SoC. I am constructing a quickbook with a formal proposal, interface design, project plan and personal information. I want to share it with the list. I will really appreciate some feedback before sending the application, specially from Joaquin. Can i post it here when it is mature enough?
Sure, I'm eager to read it. Best, Joaquín M López Muñoz Telefónica, Investigación y Desarrollo

Do anyone know if it is better to send the application as quick as possible? I am working in the docs, and i want to give a great impression to the SoC judges. I have to spend two or three days more to get it right. And next I was planning to upload a quickbook generated web page to heard the list voices... In that way, i will have the weekend to improve it with the feedback i get. Is this ok? Or I have to send it asap? Other things... Sorry to post this here, but i have not find the time to get in the other list... I am starting to get very used to quickbook and i like the results i get. Is there a highlighting grammar construct for quickbook syntax? I wan to see it full color so i don't get so many error when i compile it. I have been investigating and i think i can managed to create such grammar file for Kate ( The K advance text editor of KDE, that is a standard plug in of Konqueror ) when i finish my SoC application. Is anyone interested in such tool? Best Regards Matias, hopefully building more than MISC docs in the next three months... On 5/1/06, JOAQUIN LOPEZ MU?Z <joaquin@tid.es> wrote:

May 22nd is the deadline I believe, but the application should be in well before then in case there are comments and/or more information is asked for. However, spending a few days now to get things right will be time well spent IMO. As long as a few days doesn't turn into a few weeks! :-) John.

Whoa, it's due by May 8th! May 22nd is the end of the 'iterim period' where more discussion will occur, Google will approve, etc. See http://code.google.com/soc/studentfaq.html#42

Still I agree with John and posts to the various SOC boards -- quality of the proposal is critical. There are already a number of Boost submissions. My general sense of what I've seen so far is that the authors needed to spend more time refining the proposals. Of course, they have the ability to resubmit with updates if they desire. Jeff

My question was if it makes any difference to send it May 7th or today? I think the result will be a lot better if I can extended to May 4th, before sending it to the list, and then have 3 mini review days before sending to the SoC. What do you think Joaquin? ( I think you will be glad to see the MISC docs, the entire documentation, hopefully with examples, will be ready before writing a single line of code! ) Best regards Matias On 5/2/06, Jeff Garland <jeff@crystalclearsoftware.com> wrote:

Technically no, but May 7th doesn't leave much time for feedback or refinement. However, you're already doing that...

I would suggest you once you get to May 4th you might want to submit to SOC. That way the proposal is in front of the Mentors for sure and you can still get suggestions on the list if you want. You can always resubmit with changes on the 7th if you want. Jeff

Ok, thanks Jeff... As far as i know the idea is to fill an online application where you have to make a long abstract of what you are going to do, and you can place there links to others places. I will write the online application as soon as possible and put there a link to my quickbook docs web page. I will then be able to extend or modify it any time, even after 8 may deadline. Is this correct? Regards Matias
