As I mentioned in some earlier post.. I set up file vault are in the Boost-Sandbox web space: http://boost-sandbox.sourceforge.net/vault/ It works much like the Yahoo files area used to work. It's read only for everyone, and read-write if you "register". Registration is not closed or anything and is only there to verify that it's a real person, or as close as email verification can get, uploading files. NOTE: It seems a bit sluggish. Don't know if it's SF or the scripts. But I would suspect the scripts. If you need admin access email me. -- -- Grafik - Don't Assume Anything -- Redshift Software, Inc. - http://redshift-software.com -- rrivera/acm.org - grafik/redshift-software.com - 102708583/icq

Pretty cool, thanks Rene. I noticed I had to check the "Always stay logged" box for it to be at all useful (using Firefox 1.0). Without it, it wouldn't leave me logged it and I couldn't upload files. When would you *not* want to check this box? -- Eric Niebler Boost Consulting www.boost-consulting.com

Thanks.. It seems much faster now.. must have been SF slowness :-)

Noticed that also. I'm sure with a bit of hacking it can be "fixed". What I really like the is the ability to see the list of files in an zip/tar etc. archive online :-) -- -- Grafik - Don't Assume Anything -- Redshift Software, Inc. - http://redshift-software.com -- rrivera/acm.org - grafik/redshift-software.com - 102708583/icq

OK, I've "fixed" that "stay logged" functionality. And also fixed many other aspects to make the vault really publicly usable and so that it acts more closely to the Yahoo vault. Specifically: * It doesn't create a user folder for each user. * All files and dirs are visible to users and anonymous visitors. * The last uploads and top downloads lists work. * Some other minor things I can't remember right now :-) -- -- Grafik - Don't Assume Anything -- Redshift Software, Inc. - http://redshift-software.com -- rrivera/acm.org - grafik/redshift-software.com - 102708583/icq

This is awesome, thanks Rene! Now I have a feature request. :-) It automatically tracks #s of downloads. But if I want to upload a new version of a file, I first have to delete the old file, losing the tracking information. Is there any way to preserve it? -- Eric Niebler Boost Consulting www.boost-consulting.com

OK, you can now replace an existing file just by uploading another with the same name. I also fixed some errors I encountered during upload. And you can upload up to 3 files at a time now. -- -- Grafik - Don't Assume Anything -- Redshift Software, Inc. - http://redshift-software.com -- rrivera/acm.org - grafik/redshift-software.com - 102708583/icq
