Hi, This link is the best thing since sliced bread :-) Wow I didn't even know that page existed, something that I have been looking for a long time with such "comprehensive" and "documented" links to the hourly snapshots especially since I like to play with the latest and greatest CVS-HEAD. Can someone with enough rights please add this link on the main boost.org website. Markus suggests "Other Resources" and I say it should be subtitled under this as "CVS Snapshots" or "CVS Hourly Snapshots" or "Meta-Comm Boost Snapshots" which points to http://engineering.meta-comm.com/boost.aspx. Thanks Shams

A patch against CVS HEAD index.html:
diff -u index.htm.ORGINAL index.htm
Thanks, but how is "Web CVS" an appropriate label for http://engineering.meta-comm.com/boost.aspx? If I clicked a link with that label I'd expect to see http://boost.cvs.sourceforge.net/boost/boost/ P.S. It is best to submit patches via the SF patch tracker, where they won't be lost. P.P.S. Even for short patches like this one, it's better to post them as attachments rather than inline text. -- Dave Abrahams Boost Consulting www.boost-consulting.com

Uh, really sorry I was too quick. the link called in parent post "the best thing since sliced bread" should point to: http://engineering.meta-comm.com/boost.aspx I just picked the wrong name. Let's use the most descriptive one: "Meta-Comm Snapshots" But hey! Your link to "Web CVS" is useful too! Maybe we can it add also? :)
P.S. It is best to submit patches via the SF patch tracker, where they won't be lost.
done, see tracker.

It's already available on the page you get if you follow the "Boost CVS" link. Does it make sense to push that link up to the top level? It isn't really all that useful for most people browsing the site, I'd wager. -- Dave Abrahams Boost Consulting www.boost-consulting.com

Wouldn't that channel, simply by being referred to from this page, become "official"? I suggest we drop the "unofficial" here. Regards, m Send instant messages to your online friends http://au.messenger.yahoo.com

It's up to Dave, I recall previous discussion about that IRC channel. IIRC he would like to avoid saying that it's official, since it would mean that main boost developers are available on that channel 24h/7d. -- Janek Kozicki |

If we're going to advertise it, the link should point at a page where we describe what you can expect by subscribing (i.e. nothing: no moderation and not even anybody logged in). -- Dave Abrahams Boost Consulting www.boost-consulting.com

good point. I wasn't sure about adding a new page, that's why I pointed hyperlink to freenode. Should I write something up, and attach the new webpage (file) to the existing tracker patch? David Abrahams said: (by the date of Sun, 10 Dec 2006 09:03:08 -0500)

As you wish. I would put it there, because It's 3 clicks away from the main page, and on each page it requires around 2 seconds to search for the link to click. Whether this is ,,far'' or not - I don't know :) -- Janek Kozicki |

Sure; since it will be very short, you could make it a patch to more/mailing_lists.htm and link to an anchor there, even though it isn't a mailing list.

done. removed link to Web CVS, the link about IRC points to an anchor in more/mailing_lists.htm. Removed word "unofficial". I didn't write that nobody is logged in, because for example me (and several others for sure) are present on that IRC channel permanently. Today I counted 40 people there. But I've written the usual disclamier, which I hope - you will like :) Patches submitted to tracker, also attached to this post.

I prefer to remove it too, it was only my memory of previous discussion on this topic, that lead me to put it there :) -- Janek Kozicki |
