Boost Regression test failures Report time: 2007-06-21T04:53:58Z This report lists all regression test failures on release platforms. Detailed report: http://engineering.meta-comm.com/boost-regression/CVS-RC_1_34_0/developer/is... 1 failures in 1 libraries xpressive (1) |xpressive| c_traits: gcc-3.4.5_linux_x86_64

The IBM XL C/C++ compiler development team would like to start reporting Boost regression test results for our compilers. In order for us to do so, we require that a disclaimer to be published with any of our reported results. It is our intent to include the disclaimer on the runner ID page associated with our regression reports. Here is the text of disclaimer: IBM CANADA LTD. ("IBM") PROVIDES THE REGRESSION TESTING RESULTS "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF NON-INFRINGEMENT, MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. IBM DOES NOT GUARANTEE THAT YOU WILL OBTAIN SIMILAR RESULTS. IN NO EVENT WILL IBM BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, PUNITIVE OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOST DATA, LOST SAVINGS AND LOST PROFITS, WITH RESPECT TO THE REGRESSION TESTING RESULTS PROVIDED BY IBM. Are there any concerns about the inclusion of such a disclaimer by the Boost community? Chris Cambly XL C++ Compiler Development

I wonder if this could be the start of a model where Boost testing is done by the compiler developers. After all they have direct interest in it: 1) Running boost test seems to be a very good exercise for the compiler itself; 2) By helping with Boost testing they make Boost work better with their compilers, thus indirectly making these compilers more popular. Maybe some talks need to be started? Regards, Arkadiy

Can't really comment on the disclaimer, other than personally I have no problems with it and perhaps that Boost might want to consider such a disclaimer for all regression results. What I want to point out is that we may have to do some extra work to have the disclaimer show up on the Dart server we are experimenting with <http://beta.boost.org:8081/Boost_HEAD/Dashboard/> since the results will by default be published there also. -- -- Grafik - Don't Assume Anything -- Redshift Software, Inc. - http://redshift-software.com -- rrivera/acm.org - grafik/redshift-software.com -- 102708583/icq - grafikrobot/aim - grafikrobot/yahoo

All good points.

We at HP have already started talking about it, whether we also need a disclaimer. Boris

There's been some private discission by the moderators about this, and basically we don't have any problem at all: the runner ID page is designed for this kind of information. Of course if you can include information that might be useful to a potential user as well: what the OS/compiler version and patch numbers are etc, then that would be great too :-) Many thanks for taking up and running the tests - we've been in need of an IBM compiler-tester for a while! Thank you for the confirmation. The Compiler version, hardware and OS levels are to be included on the Runner ID page as well.

Our thanks to Thomas Witt, as well as the patch reviewers, for helping us be in a position to do so. Chris Cambly XL C++ Compiler Development
