Boost Sandbox has moved to Subversion

The Boost Sandbox has now moved from Sourceforge CVS to Subversion hosted at OSL. The Boost Sandbox CVS at Sourceforge is now closed and should no longer be used. The Subversion URL for the Sandbox is: http://svn.boost.org/svn/boost/sandbox/ For anyone requiring write access to the sandbox, please read http:// svn.boost.org/trac/boost/wiki/BoostSubversion and follow the directions there. The Subversion URL for read/write access to the sandbox is: https://svn.boost.org/svn/boost/sandbox/ More information about the Boost Subversion repository is available at http://svn.boost.org - Doug

Hurray ! Are there any plans / guidelines for migrating the existing sandbox projects to use a common structure (as outlined in http://svn.boost.org/trac/boost/wiki/BoostSubversion) ? In particular, I would expect at least some of that work to be sharable by all sandbox projects (I'm thinking in particular of some generic build system templates that one could then easily adopt). Thanks, Stefan -- ...ich hab' noch einen Koffer in Berlin...

I don't have any plans in this direction, but I think it's a good idea. As for the guidelines, one is free to edit the Trac Wiki... :)

Yes, this would be great. Some kind of "template" sandbox project that people could "svn copy" to get started would really help. - Doug

I mentioned this to Stefan on IRC... I'm going to add such a template, and adjust the top level build files sometime during BoostCon :-) -- -- Grafik - Don't Assume Anything -- Redshift Software, Inc. - http://redshift-software.com -- rrivera/acm.org - grafik/redshift-software.com -- 102708583/icq - grafikrobot/aim - grafikrobot/yahoo

This TRAC software looks quite interesting. http://svn.boost.org/trac/boost/about Please tell me - do you plan to use it for boost development, once boost switches to SVN (like bugtracking, which is currently done on sourceforge)? Do you maybe plan to switch the boost homepage into it? I'm asking because I am currently looking for something to use for the development of my application. -- Janek Kozicki |

Yes. At some point in the (near) future, we will migrate all of the bug reports from SourceForge over to Trac, so that we get Subversion/ Trac integration. For example, when committing a fix for a Trac ticket, one can write "Fixes #39" in the Subversion log message. Subversion/Trac will automagically close ticket #39 and cross- reference that Subversion commit with the Trac ticket.
Do you maybe plan to switch the boost homepage into it?
Not to Trac, no. Trac is great for collaboration among developers, but it does not make a very appealing user-centric site. There are other plans for the Boost web site, but I'm not in charge of that.
I'm asking because I am currently looking for something to use for the development of my application.
Trac is *wonderful*. Very highly recommended. - Doug

great, thanks :) I'm almost convinced. Unfortunately I also need to find some hosting. I want to switch away from berlios.de due to frequent downtime there. I guess that sf.net (or others like launchpad.net) do not offer trac. So an own/customized server seems to be the only option... -- Janek Kozicki |

I use http://www.assembla.com/ for some small personal projects just to keep them accessible from other places and backed up incase of hardware failure... not too sure how good it is compared to other places I just happened upon it one day a while back and it works for me. It has trac and svn hosting and is very quick to set up. - Michael Marcin

I'm missing information about how to get commit emails for those repositories when using anonymous access. I'll ask for developer access next week or so, but I consider commit mails an important feature even when just lurking... Yours, Jürgen -- * Dipl.-Math. Jürgen Hunold !
