No. Not that I knew about. But for some discussions, or debugging sessions or whatever it would be nice to have at times.
In this case, I would have had shamelessly used any free room.
irc.efnet.org irc.freenode.org #boost Would be nice to have a #boost-devel where devs hang out but I think the people in #boost are pretty smart guys.

Then it would be nice to write an information about it on the boost homepage, along with the information about the mailing lists. -- Janek Kozicki |

?? Which update? AFAIK there is no such channel yet. Or I am wrong in this assumption? At least I did not find such a channel on either server. Someone from the boost project admins would need to register it. Roland

Not officially, no, but it does exist.

Server: irc.freenode.net Channel: #boost Works here. There is also a bot ("reboost") that is relaying traffic to/from #boost on EFNet. The channel is officially unofficial, but it might be nice if the Powers That Be gave it their blessing as the official Boost IRC channel, for whatever that was worth. I don't think anyone expects Dave A., Robert, Rene, et al. to sit on IRC all day answering people's questions, but there are some smart, helpful folks in #boost and the conversation is generally on-topic. I think it would be nice if Boost.org pointed to the IRC channel so that those who were so inclined could go there for help or discussion that is generally more immediate than what email can provide. -- Caleb Epstein

Yup, and I've been hanging out there for some time too the past couple of days. I guess some online socialization in almost real time for some of us would be great... Though I think the time zones are getting in the way. *Waves "Mabuhay" From the Philippines GMT +8*

Sounds like a good idea to me too. :)

Although that would be fun. But alas, time differences are a factor, and as much as I would like to be able to chat with the people in the Boost community, at 5:00AM from where I'm at I think I'll take the sleep (or do some of the work that needs to be done). :D

I don't mean to sound condescending, but if you needed real time assistance, then you might be needing a consultant -- or a helpdesk. I generally think IRC is more for the socialization and "logged meetings" than really any real form of "online help". Although that might just be me. :-) -- Dean Michael C. I have joined this channel about 3 hours ago. There are currently 41 people present there. Both #boost channels (on both servers) are connected through relay bot under a name reboost, so you can talk on any of those servers to this channel, and all people will hear you.
Someone from the boost project admins would need to register it.
I bet that the owner of that bot 'reboost' knows something about that, perhaps he has registered those channels? I dunno. -- Janek Kozicki |

No. The only thing missing is an official blessing from the Boost community (e.g. by mentioning the channel on the boost.org website).

Registering is only possible on freenode. That has been done by a Boost user some time (more than a year) ago. The owner of the relay bot is someone else. Regards, m Send instant messages to your online friends http://au.messenger.yahoo.com
