and, finally, it no longer defines _REENTRANT as soon as the compiler was installed with MT-support, no matter whether MT-support was enabled on the command line or not. (I did not test it yet, but bugzilla reports PR# 11953 fixed. <url:http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=11953>) Therefore, the code in boost's config headers that tries to autodetect MT-support and sets BOOST_HAS_THREADS accordingly should work again. BTW, I didn't post this only to be annoying. I guess I didn't really state my purpose: I really hope if at all possible that boost-1.34 will be released with the patches needed to work with gcc-4.1. AFAIK, there is breakage in serialization, but a fix has already been proposed - although not yet in cvs.

Will the regression test vehicle be updated to include gcc 4.1.0 ? Dave Riedel Neal Becker wrote:

This has already been done (even before the release was anounced on this list). (A PEBKAC caused the first round of regression runs for gcc 4.1 to be useless; the next round is already running.) Regards, m Send instant messages to your online friends http://au.messenger.yahoo.com

PEBKAC: /peb“kak/ [Abbrev., "Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair"] Used by support people, particularly at call centers and help desks. Not used with the public. Denotes pilot error as the cause of the crash, especially stupid errors that even a luser could figure out. Very derogatory. Usage: "Did you ever figure out why that guy couldn't print?" "Yeah, he kept cancelling the operation before it could finish. PEBKAC". See also ID10T. Compare pilot error, UBD. ~ http://www.catb.org/~esr/jargon/html/P/PEBKAC.html

PEBKAC: Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair Its a polite (?) way for support personnel to insult their users. See also ID-10-T error. http://www.catb.org/jargon/html/P/PEBKAC.html -- Caleb Epstein caleb dot epstein at gmail dot com
