Just out of curiosity: why weren't HOMEDRIVE and HOMEPATH set in your environment? Aren't they set up for you by Windows?

Me too. I've tried googling as well as searching the MS Knowledge Base but couldn't find any reference to a similar problem. I'll try the MS newsgroups.
FWIW, I can reproduce the problem on both of my XP SP2 machines.
