Vault - multiple C/C++ files versus a compressed one

I'm all for replacing the vault.. Do you have links to samples on that new site? Are there public download counts? I notice it seems to require Flash for upload though. -- -- Grafik - Don't Assume Anything -- Redshift Software, Inc. - http://redshift-software.com -- rrivera/acm.org (msn) - grafik/redshift-software.com -- 102708583/icq - grafikrobot/aim,yahoo,skype,efnet,gmail

Yeah, I think everything listed here: http://www.boostcon.com/community/wiki/show/private/2010/ is hosted there.

Not that I know of.

Yeah, although someone with the right skillz (<cough>Rene!<cough>) could get around that I think. -- Dave Abrahams BoostPro Computing http://www.boostpro.com

Does it means that we need a front-end web page that needs to be managed at hand? Or there is already a front-end?
Are there public download counts? Not that I know of.
Hrr, people likes download counts. Could these download counts be implemented on the front-end page? Best, Vicente

I'd be more tempted to close the "vault" idea and require that things go in the sandbox instead.

Actually I agree. Especially since, if things go the way I'd like, the sandbox will just be a bunch of Git repositories in not too long: http://ryppl.org -- Dave Abrahams BoostPro Computing http://www.boostpro.com

We're not going to use FileToLink. Actually the right solution is non-centralized. I suggest that in the future submitters get a GitHub account and create a repository / wiki pages / etc. there. -- David Abrahams BoostPro Computing http://boostpro.com

I find this FileToLink site a strange beast. You upload a file, and it just sits there forever. It's not indexed, you can't find it, or browse for it, without the link supplied when you uploaded, it can't be deleted, you don't in any sense own it. Anything put there is there forever, like it or not. So, for Boost stuff I guess we'd still need some kind of index page on the Boost site so we could find things, and even old outdated stuff will still be available, even if no longer indexed. I guess that could work, but maybe it would be best to continue to upload via the Boost site, and use FileToLink as a backend, so as to automatically keep the 'index' page in sync. - Rob.

Maybe, but if we're going to have a page of links, everyone can use whatever they want. I expect something will emerge as the preferred option. Also, it will probably be a good idea to keep a backup in case one of these services disappears someday. Daniel
