I'll post another notice right before the branching, and yet another one when it's complete.
Shouldn't the Boost.Test failures be fixed first?
Starting the next release phase with known bugs in the test library feels wrong, IMHO.
Regards, m
I wouldn't say that any of Boost.Test failures are indicating bugs in library. Though they are not expected either. Couple weeks ago I posted serios of messages concerning those failures. Some got fixed (Thanx, Alexey). Others still require some attention from me and people having access to failting compilers. In any case I do not see it as a showstopper for release. Gennadiy.

It's never been the case that all bugs must be fixed before branching. In fact, I'm a little surprised that we waited this long before branching. Of course, it would be much better if the codebase were kept much cleaner ongoingly. -- Dave Abrahams Boost Consulting http://www.boost-consulting.com

What actions (if any) are the regression testers expect to do to handle this "branch"? I presume if any are required that the boost-testing list will be so notified. At Tuesday 2004-10-19 09:58, you wrote:

Regarding the "latest news" section on the main page: 1. Shouldn't we adopt the subsection layout as in Boost 1.31, with "New Libraries", "Updated Libraries", etc.? 2. Numeric Conversion does not appear listed, yet it is a newly added library (it shows, though, in the libs page.) 3. Same for Minmax. 4. A bio for Herve Bronnimann is uploaded in boost/people, but it is not linked from boost/people/people.htm. I volunteer to take care of this stuff, if no one objects. 5. Missing pictures for Fernando Caccional and Hervé. Joaquín M López Muñoz Telefónica, Investigación y Desarrollo

I've got some bio work to do. Pictures of Fernando and Gennadiy, etc. And you should certainly make any fixes you see, too. But the branch for release should not be held up for these. Easy enough to do afterwards. --Beman

Definitely.

That would be much appreciated.

Fernando, Hervé? Thank you, -- Aleksey Gurtovoy MetaCommunications Engineering

Maybe we can ask him for the pictures? (this has been CCed to him) Joaquín M López Muñoz Telefónica, Investigación y Desarrollo Beman Dawes ha escrito:

I've uploaded Fernando's pics, but don't have Hervé's to upload.
