On Boost mailing archives I found a review request for Iostreams Library by Jonathan Turkanis. I did not see any follow-up and the library is not part of latest release so I suspect the review did not happen. Anyone knows what is the fate of this library? It's still out there. It is currently second in the review queue, so I expect that within the next couple months it will be reviewed. Jeff

That's good to hear... http://boost.org/more/formal_review_schedule.html may give casual observers the impression that the review process is not ongoing (it's most recent date is July 2003). Steve

Yes, that's misleading. It's been updated in CVS, but it only gets propagated to the site during a release. Have a look here: http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/*checkout*/boost/boost/more/formal_rev... Or if you don't want to follow the link, the queue is: More IO -- Daryle Walker Iostreams -- Jonathan Turkanis Output Formatters -- Reece Dunn Pointer Containers -- Thorsten Ottosen Named Params -- David Abrahams & Daniel Wallin Wave -- Hartmut Kaiser Finite State Machine (FSM) --Andreas Huber It's hard to imagine people subscribed to this list not noticing ongoing reviews. We've reviewed and accepted 5 libraries since March... Jeff

Thanks for your interest! The previous version available at http://www.xmission.com/~turkanis/iostreams/. I've since made some major simplifications and improvements, and am scrambing to update the docs. It now contains support for memory-mapped files (from Craig Henderson) and for compression and decompression in the zlib, gzip and bzip2 formats. Jonathan
