IMPORTANT! Lost front page changes! Need help to recover them.

The recent change to the home page overwrote a considerable number of changes that where done to the home page. The changes where lost because they where *not* in the CVS version of the home page. We have a page outlining this precise situation and hence why it's important to make the changes to CVS <http://boost.org/more/updating_the_website.html>. But now I need your help. We need to recover the changes we lost. If you know of changes to the home page that we should have please post them so I can integrate them back into the home page (and the CVS copy of it). And yes I checked archive.org, but they don't have any recent version of the page. -- -- Grafik - Don't Assume Anything -- Redshift Software, Inc. - http://redshift-software.com -- rrivera/acm.org - grafik/redshift-software.com -- 102708583/icq - grafikrobot/aim - grafikrobot/yahoo

Search for "boost.org" and then select "Cached".

OK, thanks to Micheal pointing out the Google cache, I restored most of the front page. I'll be checking which changes I need to propagate to the RC_1_34_0 branch. But if you know of any additional changes from the current home page please mention them now. -- -- Grafik - Don't Assume Anything -- Redshift Software, Inc. - http://redshift-software.com -- rrivera/acm.org - grafik/redshift-software.com -- 102708583/icq - grafikrobot/aim - grafikrobot/yahoo

I do it myself when typing too fast...Glad the Google cache helped. --Michael Fawcett

Hi Rene, Since I tend to make the most changes to the home page (review announcements), I would like a clarification on the policy regarding updating it. The home page in particular is a tricky situation because there can be three versions at any point in time: 1) The current boost.org homepage, containing a blurb about the latest release and the most recent news 2) The page in the Release Candidate Branch, which contains the news about what will be in the next version of the web page 3) The page that contains news about what will be appearing in the release following the one in the Release Candidate Branch. In the past, if I have made a modification to a library in CVS HEAD and not in an RC branch, (meaning the change will not be in the next release, but in the release after that), I have placed the news item in the CVS HEAD index.htm. So I have two questions: 1) Where should the current visible home page be in CVS? 2) Where should I put news items for the release after 1.34 in CVS? Thanks, ron On Apr 5, 2007, at 1:36 PM, Rene Rivera wrote:
