Hello, As RC_1_34_0 continues to progress towards a shippable state, the world stubbornly refuses to wait. Visual Studio 2005 service pack 1 was released a few days ago. I didn't see any mention of it here but I may have missed it. This is just a heads up in case the got overlooked to make sure it's being tested. http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/support/vs2005sp1/default.aspx Thanks, Michael Marcin

At least Qt4 has been broken by this compiler regression introduced in SP1beta1. http://www.trolltech.com/developer/knowledgebase/faq.2006-12-18.3281869860 I don't know if those issues have been fixed in the SP1 final... We've tried and backed out SP1 due to several compilation failures. I'm not sure of the details though. Jeff Flinn

According to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928957/ (look for VC) they provide a work around but not a fix. - Michael Marcin

And, by the way, installing the Service Pack makes no less than three additional copies of the 470MB expanded Service Pack .msp file in your %TEMP% directory. In fact, as I am installing it, it's %TEMP% space usage is up to a total of 1,444,642,549 bytes and growing. So, you better have some serious free space available on most likely your C drive, before attempting this install. I had to change my TEMP environment variable to move the TEMP directory to another drive to allow for the space required for this service pack. Whoever was the brainiac at MS that decided that three copies of the 470MB SP file need to be put into %TEMP% directory should get some sort of space hog trophy. Mike

FWIW, they haven't :-(. And as this is my pet peeve the reference to Qt is kind of a red herring. It's flat out a core language bug in the compiler and other code by other people (read my/me) is affected as well. Regards Thomas -- Thomas Witt witt@acm.org

My regression test shows that VS 2005 SP1 passes all RC_1_34_0 regression tests. The only problem is it breaks Intel C++ for Windows again. I would expect Intel to release a compatible version soon. Thanks, Sean
