I just wanted to give the list an update regarding GIL. We are still waiting for the review summary from Tom. In the meantime I am making some fairly significant updates and enhancements to GIL, in part based on suggestions during the review. After those updates are complete (within a couple of months) I will upload the latest GIL to the Boost vault. In the mean time we may post incremental updates on GIL's web page at http://opensource.adobe.com/gil We would like to continue using this web page for people who want to get the latest GIL between Boost releases. I am hoping GIL will be included in the release after 1.34.0 (is that 1.35.0 targeted around the end of 2007?) Thanks, Lubomir

I do not know much about how boost is organized, but it doesn't seem that releases are really planned. The release happens when all tests pass, and individual maintainers are responsible for each library. I believe it could be more interesting to release independently each library, and simply releasing a new boost version every 6 months that would include all latest stable ones.
Why GIL cannot be added to the next release 1.34.0 since it has been voted in? I was thinking that once a library has been accepted into Boost it is good to go. That's not really true. It would be unfair to ask developer's to make the whole library complete to boost standards when it might well be rejected. Then there is the fact that the review process results in a number of required changes. So getting accepted really means "go to start going" Robert Ramey
