Status of Comeau toolset for upcoming 1.41.0

Hi, Recently, I've reported [1] issues [2] related to building with Comeau toolset. The upcoming release info [3] does not mention Comeau toolset. May I ask what's the status of support of Comeau? Is it safe to assume Boost 1.41.0 will be usable with Comeau C/C++ ? I don't see Comeau in the release branch testing: http://www.boost.org/development/tests/release/developer/summary.html. So, maybe it will work, maybe it won't. :) Emil Dotchevski Reverge Studios, Inc. http://www.revergestudios.com/reblog/index.php?n=ReCode

And that's exactly the matter of my question, because I found it myself current trunk does not compile using recent Comeau C/C++ on Linux. I hope to try again and provide reports and, hopefully, patches but I'm not an expert user of Comeau C/C++ compiler. Thus, I'm looking for a kind of mentoring soul around :-) Best regards, -- Mateusz Loskot, http://mateusz.loskot.net Charter Member of OSGeo, http://osgeo.org

you may find that that soul within comeau. they have fast and good email support, provided not by a sales rep but by people who know C++ and the compiler. iirc I once asked them a question about comeau support for C99 variadic macros and I got a competent answer. if you mention that you work on boost for comeau they`ll probably be even more supportive.

Here's an idea. If you become a tester for the Commeau compiler the results of your tests will be posted on the trunk testing matrix. The presence large patches of red and/or yellow offends the aesthetic sensability of everyone and the personal pride of the maintainer of the library in question. Often this is all that is needed to motivate the desired changes. Robert Ramey

Robert, Understood. I'll try my best. Best regards, -- Mateusz Loskot, http://mateusz.loskot.net Charter Member of OSGeo, http://osgeo.org
