[1.34.0] Beta Release

Hi, Here is the, as always tentative, release plan. I'll be starting packaging 1.34.0 Beta on Monday. This will go out as soon as I am done. The goal is to have a 2 week beta period and then create a RC followed shortly by the relase. Depending on feedback we'll extend the beta to 4 weeks. Thomas -- Thomas Witt witt@acm.org

The delay of 1.34 has reached the emergency stage, IMO. No delays should be tolerated. We need to go into ship mode and finish 1.34 within two weeks from Monday. Too many other projects, both within Boost and among Boost users, are being delayed waiting for 1.34. --Beman

Well I guess we should make sure it works, don't we? I am fine with shipping ASAP. It's just that I think it'll need a little shakedown. We'll see how it goes once people look at the beta. Thomas

We can always ship a 1.34.1 with targeted patches if problems arise...just like we did with 1.33. People have a way of waiting till the official release before they download...so the problems tend to crop up after the release anyway. Jeff

Is the beta available for download somewhere now ? You mentioned yesterday as the date the beta would be packaged and released onto the public... Thanks, Stefan -- ...ich hab' noch einen Koffer in Berlin...

FWIW I said I would start and that's what I did. I'll post a note as soon as I am done. It's more than just zipping them, you know. Thomas
