Well, use revision numbers. Or I think you will end up with one tag for every revision of the release branch which I see no point in.
Revision numbers are less user-friendly. I don't believe that "every revision" of the release branch would have to be tagged, only the official release candidates. Also, the RC_ tags could be removed after the official release to clean up among the tags. / Johan
