I don?t understand the DLCP-hype at all. Correct me if I am wrong, but how would it be to just instantiate the Singleton before spawning any thread?
Sometimes that isn't an option. Suppose your Singleton encapsulates a heavyweight resource (say a database connection) which may be unnecessary, and the decision cannot be made until after threads are spawned. - James Jones Administrative Data Mgmt.
