Really? When people retain more information from reading text, I would surmise that that's because the stress and tension is lessened, as in the case when our nervous system is relaxed. How can it be the opposite?
People pay more attention to hard things than easy ones?
Then we should ask whether it's better to make the docs easy to read or easy to remember. ;) Dave
