Sometimes it is very expensive, or even impossible. Like Boost.Graph and Boost.Variant being incompatible since 1.41 : http://lists.boost.org/boost-users/2010/01/55317.php I don't know if you consider Graph and Variant as 'stable libraries' though. -- Maxime
