The fact that MFC is the right toolkit for the job is very arguable. MFC is probably the worst toolkit ever designed for C++. It was only successful because it's a layer which gives access to Microsoft's platform, Windows, which for some reason got very implanted on the market. Therefore people wanting to program for Microsoft's platform use Microsoft's tools, and MFC is what they have.
