taking a closer look i'd say this test is not fully representative because you consider only access time regardless of allocation/deallocation effort
In general, what's important is the time I spend computing. allocation/desallocation are done once and has no meaning what so ever w/r to the speed of computation.
can you extend it to involve a allocated/deallocated temporary or similar?
