I'd be happy to, but I would really would like to see http://svn.boost.org/trac/boost/ticket/1744 resolved before I do that.
1744 isn't going to be resolved until someone steps in and does the work. And it is pretty unlikely that will happen in time for this release, since we are about to publish the beta. Hopefully this release is going to supply binary installers for popular platforms, and those installers will include options for static libraries. That may ease the urgency of 1744. --Beman
