If you're going to take my side of the argument, then I'll have to take yours! To heck with the ultimate library. Just one working library, even SI units only, in boost would be major progress. The ultimate one can come later and should come from the people (like me) who are demanding it. Those of you who have developed physical units only libraries (because that's the only thing you need) should proceed anyway. It's my belief that even such a library will see widespread usage and that this experience will help us develop further enhancements to the library. Paul A Bristow wrote:

Perhaps I can just add that there was a significant feeling that a 'meta-units' system that allowed 'User Defined Units' - from which could be created the familiar SI units system, but would also allow more unusual units systems, for example used by the finance world, or really weird like non-relativistic.
The ultimate dimension/unit-checking library?
We are waiting out to find out if this is possible, which seems likely - and practicable in compile speed, which is less certain.
