Agree.
In my experience, ODBC can be unbelievably slow, also. It is definitely not a cure-all. It should probably be supported, but creating an interface that will elegantly support native drivers should be a priority.
Sure having good support for native drivers is fine, but I think it is much, much, harder to achieve. So my push for ODBC binding is primarily to meet the 'all major databases' supported quickly. Jeff
