Hi,
Yesterday the download figures for Boost Vault/Physical Quantities Units/pqs_3_1_1.zip stood at about 280 or so. Today they stand at 4. (and BTW a larger margin for the release notes).
Something similar seems to have happened to Asger Mangaards pimpl_ptr library where the number of downloads seems to have gone from 1500(?) or so to 2.
No other libraries in the Vault seem to have been so affected.
It means that the downloads figures, which must help potential users to gauge popularity, health, performance etc of libraries in the Vault, ( and for which there is even a league table), gives an entirely false impression.
What's going on?
No real clue :-( Only possibility is that the count file got corrupted by simultaneous updates and the count file got recreated.
Pointers to better file vault software appreciated ;-)
I've seen this happen time and again. xpressive's download stats have dropped to zero on numerous occasions, and it seems to have happened again. I can't recommend any better file vault software, but I suggest we stop tracking the download counts and remove the "top downloads" page until the numbers can be made reliable. As they are, the download counters are meaningless and misleading. -- Eric Niebler Boost Consulting www.boost-consulting.com
