Meh. Did anyone actually use that feature of the vault?
I did. It was such a motivation boost. This single point made in my eyes the vault useful. When you bring a new library, you don't really know whether it generates any interest, and this during months, usually until the review.
If you want to attract people not known on this list, keep this feature, anyhow.
It isn't "download counts" per se, but github for instance tracks the number of forks/followers, etc., in case you're keeping score in the reputation game. For instance, with my 5 followers (https://github.com/straszheim) I am 23.8% as cool as Dave Abrahams, with 21 (https://github.com/dabrahams).
