Yes, definitely. And how about extending this (or coming up with another scheme) so that it equally applies to all tool sets? Because my next question would be: How do I build for GCC 3.3.3 and 3.4.X?

No, we never supported cw6, but yes to the rest.
Just a question of how much effort we want to invest in a dying Boost.Build v1 -- all of this is better in BBv2 -- and, of course, a volunteer to do the work.
By the way, anyone who wants to make things better can do this job. It doesn't require any special expertise at all.
