Walter Brown and Marc Paterno from Fermilab are the LWG's numerics guys. If they are in favor of such a proposal, it would be a big help. I'd suggest you contact them and ask for their opinions. Contact me privately if you need their email addresses.
I did (to check if the addresses were the same as a couple of years ago). Did you receive my mail? Sorry for the bother, but I have a nagging suspicion that some of my mail, at least over the last month or so, is getting lost, either inbound or outbound.
Normally I would volunteer to champion almost any proposal coming out of Boost, but I don't even know how to pronounce quaternion or octonion!
