We found that GCC 4.4 on Linux was about 100% faster than Visual C++ 2008 on Linux without modifying the code.
Wow, I didn't know that VC9 could target that platform. ;-)
Yeah, a typo here - I should have proof read more. Thanks for the exhaustive answer. That's more than I would have expected in my wildest dreams. I am lobbying my employer for some Visual C++ 2008 to 2010 license upgrades. The standard to professional edition promotional upgrade is inexpensive enough. Christian
