Well, either you let it as a policy or you can use it everytime. The 2D case is the worst case but as benchmarks show, it's only a few percent. There a was a discussion about multi_array months ago where I posted a sample benchmark of this. still what about small dynamically alocated entities? i like them very much! i'm afraid about bad performance of them
