I would have thought a system such as r.p.m / windows installer could be used. Is the requirement not just a remote version of the functionality of bcp ?. Tie this in to the http://www.boost.org/libs/libraries.htm with a suitable installer and it would certainly attract casual users.
It would be nice to be able to download and install just the parts you need, on the fly. I think that would make people feel a whole lot more comfortable.
Well ...How about... running bcp on all the libs, zip them and add links to them in http://www.boost.org/libs/libraries.htm , (probably with info regarding whether they require compilation of source). A long way from the ideal method but relatively cheap (in time).
Perhaps this represents dumbing down ?
