Hm. It's easy to explain how to clean up unless you use special options like --libdir and --includedir. I'm not sure I know how to give those instructions in a way that doesn't complicate the document. I think that's a whole 'nother page.
2. upgrade from an older version. Also, beginners may wonder if it is possible to have different versions of Boost on the same system.
