Just a preliminary report:
I have done some basic tests similar to your examples and everything seems to work great so far. I'm using the release branch for testing.
Once 1.46 is released next week, I'll be writing some additional libraries and tests and will give additional feedback then.
Also, I think I found a couple of mistakes in the documentation. A patch is attached.
