Well it's not really a Boost.Jam, or Boost.Build problem. It the individual libraries.

Well, what I've rather found in my experience is that if you don't know what xyz is you probably need(ed) it and missed an important tool :) It's always true, instead, that if you ignore what something is then you shouldn't try to use it. --Gennaro.
