Is not this primitive/composite distinction purely an implementation detail?
I see your point that the fact they are "decomposable" is probably not that important to users. I think of the primitives are basic components, building blocks. Composites provide the glue with which they can be recombined to new and more interesting purposes. Maybe this part of the docs should put more emphasis on the capability of composites to combined things, rather than the fact they can be thought of as decomposable?
