[math][Sunpro] Can anyone help porting to Sun's compiler?

The new Math statistical distributions and special functions code currently fails with Sun's compiler http://beta.boost.org/development/tests/trunk/developer/output/Sandia-sun-b… with error messages such as: "../boost/math/concepts/real_concept.hpp", line 333: Error: Could not find a match for boost::math::tools::epsilon<boost::math::tools::T>(). "../boost/math/special_functions/detail/unchecked_factorial.hpp", line 268: Error: Could not find a match for boost::math::unchecked_factorial<boost::math::RT>(unsigned). "../boost/math/special_functions/detail/unchecked_factorial.hpp", line 269: Error: Could not find a match for boost::math::unchecked_factorial<boost::math::RT>(unsigned) needed in boost::math::unchecked_factorial<boost::math::RT>(unsigned). The gcc results on that platform are pretty good, so it seems a shame not to support Sun as well, anyone have ideas? Thanks, John Maddock.

Runtime Dynamic Dispatch Library (0.2)

Hi Everyone, This version of the Dispatcher uses Boost.Fusion and Boost.Function. It also contains the strategized_map template (and test) which is basically an associative container which allows you to strategize the index validation and routing of the index. The strategized_map though is currently undocumented, though the unit tests already provide hints on how to use it. This release has been tested on Linux with GCC version 4.1.2 and Windows with MSVC 8.0 (Visual C++ 2005) against Boost's Subversion trunk. Comments and suggestions would be most appreciated. Please feel free to download the package(s) from Sourceforge: http://tinyurl.com/2cbzyl Or from the Boost Vault: http://tinyurl.com/24m2y2 This still does not implement the multiple-signature feature which I'm still contemplating on putting in, but this is already useful by itself. Access to unaligned (packed) structs

I am searching for a library / component / pattern that will help me with the following problem: I have a memory structure in raw memory (received from a measurement instrument), that is unaligned in its data members. Now I want to have an access interface to this data that comes as close as possible to access of a struct. E.g. struct foo { char a; int b; } Altough my raw data "char* pdata" has an 8bit followed by a 32bit I want to be able to do something like: foo data(pdata); and then char ch = data.a; int n = data.b; Does anyone know about such a library? I have a question regarding the boost build on Windows: I'm building boost with the following bjam command: cmd.exe /C ./tools/build/jam_src/${bindir}/bjam.exe -d2 -sTOOLS=${toolchain} "-sBUILD=release <threading>multi <cxxflags>-D_USE_32BIT_TIME_T <runtime-link>dynamic" "-s${vc_root}=${vcvars32}" Everything works fine so far, but: I want only the shared libraries (dlls), and am settings appropriate defines to use those versions in all other software i build. Smoke tests

I'm calling the rapid turnaround tests "Smoke Tests". A section has been added to the testing doc page explaining them, with links to results; see: http://beta.boost.org/development/testing.html The Win32 and Ubuntu tests are currently checking for svn updates every 15 minutes. These tests are run on fast modern machines, so the tests usually take less than 5 minutes. Of course it will take longer if a header changes that lots of libraries depend on. I've also going to try to add Mac OS-X to the mix, but that machine is old and slow so cycle times are likely to be much longer. It will get added to the web page as soon as it is cycling regularly. Just to point out that fusion is not currently being tested in the trunk, and the docs aren't linked to from the documentation index either. Hi there, about half a year ago Aaron Windsor provided us with a bug-fix for the fibonacci_heap.hpp which is now (in CVS version 1.15) working perfectly. It seems that it was forgotten to include the new file in the current boost release -- would be nice to do so since the 1_34_1 version is not working at all. Best Florian

All builds for all libraries, including regression test builds, was broken yesterday by a typo in a specific library's Jamfile. Even though a change is very simple, it should still be tested before committing to svn. This is particularly important for Jamfiles, because a mistake in one library's Jamfile can bring down the whole testing system. Enough said, --Beman

Hi, I'm using Visual Studio 2005 and got into trouble when I tried to serialize a class with 16 byte alignment: __declspec(align(16)) class Vech { ... __m128 m_data; }; The problem is that the following static assert in type_with_alignment is triggered: BOOST_STATIC_ASSERT(found % Align == 0); which in turn stems from the fact that sizeof(max_align) == 8. By changing the lines: #define BOOST_TT_ALIGNMENT_BASE_TYPES BOOST_PP_TUPLE_TO_LIST( \ 12, ( \ char, short, int, long, ::boost::long_long_type, float, double, long double \ , void*, function_ptr, member_ptr, member_function_ptr)) to #include <xmmintrin.h> #define BOOST_TT_ALIGNMENT_BASE_TYPES BOOST_PP_TUPLE_TO_LIST( \ 13, ( \ char, short, int, long, ::boost::long_long_type, float, double, long double \ , void*, function_ptr, member_ptr, member_function_ptr, __m128)) I got rid of the static assert and everything seems to work just fine. Would it be possible to get this "fix" into a later release of boost in a more rigorous and organized fashion (with all the surrounding compiler workarounds and typedefs etc.)? [ublas] multiplication of triangular matrices

Hello, I have to efficiently multiply A'*A, where A is an upper triangular matrix with dimension 150. Defining A as a ublas::triangular_matrix<double, upper> and using the function "prod" is very slow (I used -DNDEBUG flag and noalias). If I directly define ublas::matrix<double> A, and use atlas::gemm I get better results. My question is: Is there a way to use the fact that A is triangular in order to speed up the latter computation. Hi, I've been using the latest boost asio on Mac OS X and I have fixes for two problems. Problem #1 boost::asio::error::system_category is initialized to a null reference. Since asio is a header only solution, the constant message table reference in the asio namespace must be initialized by with the value returned by the singleton boost::system::get_system_category rather than directly making a reference to the boost::system::system_message global. Problem #2 In situations where there are a large number of open file descriptors the interrupter_ member of kqueue_reactor can end up 'uninitialized.' An exception needs to expose the failure case when pipe_select_interrupter can not be initialized. The specific case I discovered this from was running 200 threads where each thread resolves a name, connects to a tcp port, and does a simple textrpc. A lot of file handles are opened in this case. - Each thread has an io_service, and hence a kqueue fd - Each thread has a tcp socket, and hence a socket fd - Each thread resolves names, so there is a second backend io_service for the resolver, and hence another kqueue fd. - Each kqueue fd is accompanied by a pair of pipe fds used to interrupt long running kevent calls. Two kqueue fds means 4 pipe fds. Overall, each thread running a simple tcp connection requires 7 fds. An implementor of code built on asio would try to minimize the number of io_services and use thread pools to dispatch work, but the code still needs to fail in a nice way.
