Hi, In boost/thread/pthread/tss.hpp, lines 23 and 24, there is a BOOST_THREAD_DECL macro which gives compilation errors on Linux. The code compiles fine without it.

Asio - SSL Problem

Lots of warnings

The ptr_container header files seem to be causing a lot of very verbose and annoying warning messages on Visual Studio 2008 at warning level 4 (highest). I'm not sure if this is my fault or what, but I was hoping you guys could verify if this is your issue or mine. Thanks. [1.35.0] Tickets, Milestone, Testing

http://svn.boost.org/trac/boost/query?status=new&status=assigned&status=reo… shows all the tickets that have been assigned to the 1.35.0 milestone. Does this list have any meaning? In other words, are we actually intending to address all of these problems for 1.35, and put off other tickets for 1.35.1 or 1.36.0? IMO getting this list sorted out and handling the tickets one-by-one is the most productive way to get us from here to a successful release of 1.35.0. That may mean a number of new tickets need to be added (probably at least one for each major failure we're seeing in http://engineering.meta-comm.com/boost-regression/1_34_1/developer/issues.h… and possibly others) and it will require part of the release team to triage the whole list of tickets assigned to 1.35.0 and make some decisions to put certain tickets off for later. Also, are we running complete tests on the release branch currently? A whole bunch of serialization tests are failing for Intel/Windows because of an apparent error in export.hpp. See below. C++ Performance

Hi everybody Im a quite new boost user and I wonder, why C++ Program is so slow. I wrote a program, and I have the same program in Matlab, I expected that my C++ version is much faster, but its not. I use matrices, vectors, matrix- and vector proxies. Do some solving and compute calculations with prod, element_div, etc.. Is boost in general slower than matlab, should I use something else? Id be real happy about any help. Hello list, I recently found myself in need to use a half-edge datastructure for doing Delaunay triangulation. Rather than rolling my own half-assed classes, I thought I'd see what the recent GSoC project on the topic had to offer. I've only glanced through the sources, but it certainly looks nice. However, before spending more effort on it it'd be nice to know its current status and what the future has in store for it. From http://tinyurl.com/283gm2 I gather that its mostly complete, but that's also pretty much information I could find, except for the sources. Are there plans on submitting the library for review, and if so, in what timeframe? After few months of inactivity I came back to a local function syntax. [pool] Is it even possible to call release_memory() for map/list allocator pools portably?

I have a map, declared as: typedef std::pair<int, HintPage *> PageCachePair; typedef boost::fast_pool_allocator<PageCachePair> PageCacheAllocator; typedef std::map<int, HintPage *, std::less<int>, PageCacheAllocator> PageCache; The problem is when I try to call: boost::singleton_pool<boost::fast_pool_allocator_tag, sizeof(PageCachePair)>::purge_memory(); This always returns false. The real problem (of course) is that sizeof(PageCachePair) is incorrect. The real size is determined by the rebind mechanism for the actual map node struct. However, I have no idea how to portably determine that size. Is it even possible to do this? Scott

Hi ! I'm experimenting with the Boost.Python bindings and get the warning: boost/python/detail/unwind_type.hpp:152: warning: unused parameter 'p' when building my extension library with gcc. Full output "errort.txt" attached. My gcc is: gcc -v gcc version 4.1.2 (Ubuntu 4.1.2-0ubuntu4) The attached patch "unwind_type.hpp.diff" fixes the problem for the "not msvc" case. [x-files][singleton] incomplete type problem

I ran into a compiler problem using the singleton library from the vault. singleton's constructor and destructor use instance_proxy before it is defined. The trivial fix is to make the definition of the constructor and destructor inline function at the bottom of the file (i.e. after instance_proxy is defined). singleton_manager.hpp causes warning under msvc 8.0 in the singleton_manager::cleanup function: warning C4706: assignment within conditional expression for while (!!(i = ptr_instance->ptr_first)) if this could be rewritten without much effort to silence the warning it would be nice. Nit - there seems to be a lot of extraneous inline keywords for functions defined inside the class definition. The library has proven quite useful. Thanks, Michael Marcin

HP-UX_ia64_aCC is all green on the trunk except Interprocess library is marked as not supported. Assuming that the results on the release branch are as good as on the trunk (which is something we don't know at this point), would you be willing to consider adding HP-UX/aCC to the list of release platforms for 1.35, under the condition that Interprocess library does not have to be supported in 1.35 on this platform? To assess what the situation with 1.35 is, can I do a test run against release branch and, if so, what's the process? Just pass "--tag=branches/release" to run.py? Thanks, Boris

[1.35.0] Release criteria compilers

In doing a postmortem of the past couple of releases with Thomas Witt, he made a very strong case that testing is a major bottleneck. If developers and release managers have to wait several days to find out if a fix works, it slows progress to a crawl. One of the things we can do to eliminate that bottleneck is to cut the number of release criteria compilers down to a more manageable number, and to compilers where testing is very reliably and runs several times a day. My candidates for the release criteria compilers are: * Microsoft VC++ 8.0 on Win32 * Intel 10.0 on Win32 * GCC on Linux * GCC on Darwin I've got all of those here, so can verify test results myself if necessary. I expect people will want to add several others, and that's OK. But for this first release on our quarterly schedule, let's keep the number down to be sure we meet our targets. Comments? --Beman
