Boost.test: minor fix

I've took the liberty of comitting the following change, which make "m_value" visible on compilers with two-phase lookup (like gcc 3.4) However, the token_iterator_test still fails to compile on 3.4 saying: token_iterator_test.cpp:47:38: converting to execution character set: Invalid or incomplete multibyte or wide character token_iterator_test.cpp:48:31: converting to execution character set: Invalid or incomplete multibyte or wide character token_iterator_test.cpp:48:42: converting to execution character set: Invalid argument token_iterator_test.cpp:48:49: converting to execution character set: Invalid argument token_iterator_test.cpp:48:55: converting to execution character set: Invalid or incomplete multibyte or wide character Looks like the text in L"" literals is not 7-bit, and that's why compiler errors out. Also, as I understand the problem, If I don't use tmpnam but just assign a fixed name like "xyz", the same issues re race conditions and potential flaws are still present - are they not? This is sort of an interesting question but seems way beyond the scope of what can be addressed by a program whose function is to test a library during development. Perhaps you want to conjure up a definitive solution and submit for consideration as part of the filesystem library. Robert Ramey

I'll #include new source in serialization as well so we'll all be in the same page. Question. Does this not mean that this if an application includes both the serialization package as well as the program options package that some linkers will fail to links with a duplicate symbol message? I would also like to see 1. The documentation page and test moved to a neutral spot. 2. Could you examine my version and your version and reconcile any differences. Given Rene's observations, I made a pass and fixed the issues he mentioned. It's a could of changes but they are small and make things much more transparent and reliable. I've also tested them on a variety of compilers and feel much better about it. Robert Ramey

Boost.Thread fix for gcc 3.4

The test_thread test fails on g++3.4 on this line: BOOST_TEST(thrd == boost::thread()); saying that copy constructor of boost::noncopyable is not accessible. My understanding of the problem is that boost::thread() is rvalue. According to standard, implementation - bind reference to rvalue - create temporary the copy constructor, however, should be accessible no matter what implementation decides. Earlier gcc version did not enforce this rule, apparently. I've comitted the attached obvious fix, tested to work on 3.4, 3.3, 3.2 and 2.95. - Volodya

missing jam_log.xml

The test results being generated on HP-UX-PARISC looks different than everybody else's. Not sure if it's related, but I also get the following messages towards the end of the testing: Missing jam_log.xml in target: /pics/log/ccase/boost/boost/bin/boost/libs/utility/test/binary_search_te st.test/acc/debug Missing jam_log.xml in target: /pics/log/ccase/boost/boost/bin/boost/libs/utility/test/checked_delete_t est.test/acc/debug Missing jam_log.xml in target: /pics/log/ccase/boost/boost/bin/boost/libs/utility/test/result_of_test.t est/acc/debug and indeed I don't find jam_log.xml anywhere. Who generates this file? This is not the same as test_log.xml, is it? Thanks! -Jerry

Hi, Almost all is said in the subject. According to 24.1-5 it is undefined behavior; consequently default initialized parameters cannot be used. So here comes a patch. I didn't put the half constructor (only a "begin" parameter, no "end" parameter) because I don't think it makes sense; but if it does, just add it. Regards, Guillaume

Boost.Threads: Do we need all those mutexes?

Do we need all three separate concepts -- mutex, try_mutex and timed_mutex? I'd expect the mutex concept to remain unchanged and "try" and "timed" refinements to be related solely to the ways I try locking that only mutex. That is, I always have one mutex and under different circumstances lock it unconditionally (scoped_lock) or try locking it and check if that attempt succeeds (scoped_try_lock) or try locking within a certain time period (scoped_timed_lock).
