[gsoc]Mentor searching for tensors support

Hi community, I'm Jiawei Jiang, a graduate from Uchicago. I'm trying to find a mentor for GSoC(uBLAS, precanned project2). Here's the rough idea of my proposal: I divide the project to 3 parts. First, completion of class structure. As a extension of n-d array structure, basic lookup and modification functions(size, resize, insert, etc.), operator overloadings(+, *, ==...) and iterator interfaces must be implemented. Second, specialization for special tensors. Take 2-order tensors, matrix as an example. Many useful algorithms are implemented specifically to sparse matrix. So it's even worthy to change storing structures for sparse matrix to fit in those operation and algorithms. Similiar cases occur in high-order tensors. Last part is algorithms. Though after completion of iterator inferfaces, we can already call a lot of stl/boost algorithms, some specializations can be a choice. For examle, if we want to calculate the sum of values in n-order tensors, we need call "accumulate" for n times(well, maybe not a big codeload using generic lambdas but still a repetitive work, right?) And of course, other particular algorithms for high-order tensors is a work to complete, such as lowing/rasing index for tensors. Hello, I'm doing my GSoC 2018 proposal for Boost.uBLAS project 1 https://github.com/boostorg/boost/wiki/Boost-Google-Summer-of-Code-2018#pro… The guide suggests implementing some fundamental components like... "many sorts of distributions like histograms, etc." Why do we need to implement those distributions when we've already had all the things we need in <boost/math/distributions>? [gsoc18] Seeking mentor for Boost.uBLAS Statistics and Machine Learning

Hi I'm Raul Sanchez Cayo, a student at The University of Guadalajara and I'm looking for a mentor. The Statistics and Machine Learning project on your ideas list got my attention. I just took the subject of Statistics last semester and I found it really interesting, especially when we got into different kinds of distributions and learned how to analyze them. Of course Statistics is not the only reason I want to work with this project. Since last year, I have been training to compete in the ACM-ICPC using C++. Although C++ is not the only programming language I work with, it is by far the first I have gotten to know deeply. I will be submitting a more detailed proposal at Google today, along with my programming competency test and a couple of libraries of my own. Thanks for your time, I look forward to hear from you.

Hi, What's the procedure of becoming a mentor? I couldn't find any info at our Wiki regarding this. Do I understand correctly that I should be able to go to gsoc page and agree to mentor a proposed project? I'm unable to log in. Do I need some sort of invitation? Adam

[gsoc18] Boost.uBLAS support for tensors: seeking a mentor

Hello, My name is Konstantin. I would like to add tensor support to boost library. I am an aspirant (1st year) in computer science from Moscow Technological University, Russia (I believe aspirant corresponds to PhD Student in USA), and I have taken extra tensor algebra and differential geometry courses. My motivation, besides my affection towards topology and tensors, comes from the fact that I need C++ tensor library for use in my own project. Since I'm going to implement it, I would like to see it as a part of great open source project like Boost that anyone can use.
