Interest in a template library to encapsulate existing/derived object types?

I currently maintain a very simple C++ template library used to encapsulate objects to protect them from modification except for by authorized accessor objects. These accessor objects are allowed access to the encapsulated objects via a member function they define for the express purpose of processing or viewing those objects. This limits each object with access to a narrow purpose (or at least to a single entry point,) effectively forcing modular (vice procedural) use of the encapsulated objects. All capsules which encapsulate these objects are polymorphically clonable.
I've identified 2 main uses for this library:
1) Passing information between different processing units. Rather than passing data to a static or global function which will perform a procedure, passing encapsulated objects will force that function to strictly perform operations on incoming (or "borrowed") objects using specifically designed modules.
2) Maintaining centralized program data. Encapsulating global/semi-global data in this manner will force auxiliary units to implement concise modules instead of procedural functions to access and use centralized data.
Possible methods of primary encapsulation: copy existing objects into private data members, derive a class to be self-encapsulating, or dynamic polymorphic storage.

I have no idea why, but the "using std::mbstate_t" line in codecvt_null.hpp doesn't work on QNX Neutrino 6.3.x.
Basically, one line needs to be deleted. Unfortunately, you can't just delete the check on __QNXNTO__ being defined, because then one of the other defines will still try to do a using.

The problem (as far as I can tell) is that a buffered iostreams::stream
dumps it's internal buffers every time you call seek or tell, even if
you seek to the current position.
You end up in this function.

I am no expert in iostreams but I think that the naive idea would be to
check if the buffer already contains the position we are searching for
and if so, adjust the buffers accordingly (at least if the stream is
binary). With the current implementation you can't really use buffered
streams if you seek a lot in them (which, perhaps is the reason you want
to use buffered streams in the first place).

Hi,
I'm trying to evaluate whether some applications which use Boost are
exposed to problems with the change to the start and end dates of
Daylight Saving Time in the US this year

>From an initial inspection, it seems there are at least two areas which
may cause incorrect behaviour after the change is made:
- There is a deprecated template class boost::date_time::us_dst_rules
(http://www.boost.org/boost/date_time/dst_rules.hpp) which hard-codes
the rules for US DST changes. Admittedly this class is deprecated, but
it remains in the code base.
- Boost ships with a database of timezone and DST information in CSV
format. This appears to contain the old dates for the DST changeover
as reported here

Does the above seem right? Also, have these problems been fixed in the
upcoming 1.34 release? From a quick scan of CVS it seems not.
I'd also be grateful if people could comment on any other areas within

somewhere so that it's easier for others to find the information.

Hello all,
I just uploaded a new release of Channel framework at
http://channel.sourceforge.net. Channel is a template framework for
asynchronous distributed message passing and event dispatching. Channel is
built on top of many boost facilities. Here are the links:

When we build distributed applications around distributed name spaces, we
may want to "relocate"/"mount" the names imported (from a connection to a
remote name space) to a specific sub-region in local name space. For
example, if we have a name space in desktop computer and connect to a PDA
and a laptop, we can set translators at connections so that names imported
from PDA will appear under "/pda/" and names from laptop will appear under
"/laptop/". Or if our application use integer as ids/names, we may want to
relocate ids from the 1st connection to [1000-1999] and ids from next
connection to [2000-2999] and so on. That is similar to the way how we mount
remote file-systems to local file-system. filters are used to restrict the
valid range of names allowed to pass in/out specific channel connections.
A sample is added to demo the usage of filter and translator.

Up to now, most of efforts focus on setting up the binding between
message senders and receviers thru name-matching in name_space. Often when
we apply message passing / event dispatching model to implement localized
(in a single address space) applications or modules, we may not want the
trouble of setting up name space and assigning names. Many message passing
based systems (such as inferno/limbo, plan9/libthread, CCR, C++CSP) provide
"port" or "channel" (which are normal local objects) to help build these
applications. From Channel's design perspective, these local communication
primitives are special bindings of sender and receiver. They are "unnamed",
not set up thru name-matching in name space. These unnamed primitives can
work with named primitives smoothly. Design document has been updated to
cover this. Sample unnamed primitives have been added and some sample
applications are added to demo the usage.
Suggestions and comments are highly appreciated. More is coming.

it's not in the 1.33.1 distribution. What is the status of
