Summary: floating point comparison algorithm
Initial Comment:
The floating point comparison algorithm does not seem
to work if one of the floating points is zero and the
other one is close to zero. Here's the code sample
I've used:
close_at_tolerance<double> checker(0.01);
const double a = 0.0;
const double b = 0.0000001;
bool res = checker(a, b);
if (!res)
{
std::cerr << "ERROR" << std::endl;
}
I think the following check must be added in the
close_at_tolerance<FPT>::operator() function:

I made the changes you requested and unfortunately things aren't any
clearer. What I'm seeing now is error_code == SSL_ERROR_SYSCALL. However,
the line I added above:
int sys_error_code = asio::detail::socket_ops::get_error();
sys_error_code == 0
Therefore, when the error happens, this return gets called
if (error_code == SSL_ERROR_SYSCALL)
return handler_(asio::error(sys_error_code), rc);
Which boils down to:
if (5 == SSL_ERROR_SYSCALL)
return handler_(asio::error(0), -1);
Since sys_error_code is zero, I no longer get an asio::error in my handler
and my code continues to try to read from the socket, which causes lockups
and assertion errors in my code.
I think I preferred the old way :). Are there any other changes you would
like me to try?

Instead of using anyT as the placeholder I think that creating
separate placeholders for each argument may be better. It allows
for better checking at compile time when the argument types really
model different concepts.

In order to make this work the function pointers have to take
arguments of a type that stores only enough information to
convert it to the real type. Basically it would be boost::any
with direct support for reference_wrappers added. This would
also mean that the function pointers for a given operation are all
identical regardless of the number of other functions. Thus, "up-casting"
anys will work.
The main disadvantage of this scheme appears when one or more arguments
are not casted. This could happen with lambda expressions. The solution is
to give the argument enough information to reconstruct the original type or
a subset thereof.
When the return type is an any the same method can be used to avoid making
the return types different for different sets of operations and thereby
disabling
conversions. Additionally, the tables required can be used to implement
"down-casts."

I recently grabbed the latest ASIO out of the boost CVS in hopes of fixing
some SSL problems we were having in an example program I posted a while
back. The changes did indeed fix the problem I outlined in the example
program (thanks Chris!).
However, I'm still getting random lockups when I enable SSL. The problems
may very well stem from our code, but I've spent so much wasted time trying
to track it down I'm hoping someone might be able to shed some light on why
this happens.
I'm running on Windows XP Professional and compiling with MSVS 2003.
In almost all cases, our client will eventually get an asio::error returned
from the following call:

asio::async_read(*_sslSocket, asio::buffer(_inboundHeader, sizeof
_inboundHeader),

The asio::error object says "Access is denied".
I've tracked the error to ssl/detail/openssl_operation.hpp, line 171.
Snippet follows:

// not want network communication nor does want to send shutdown

Can anyone shed some light on what causes such a failure? Like I said, this
has been driving me batty for some time now. Any help would be greatly,
greatly appreciated! :)

Hi
why doesn't shared_array allow the same conversions as shared_ptr, so that
boost::shared_ptr<int> ip;
boost::shared_ptr<const int> ip2(ip);
is allowed, but not
boost::shared_array<int> ip;
boost::shared_array<const int> ip2(ip);
Is it safe to use shared_ptr's with arrays if one supplies an array
deleter as a constructor argument?

Hi Stephan,
The immediate problem is that you should be using the
Mutable_LvaluePropertyMapConcept
instead of LvaluePropertyMapConcept.
However, I think there may also be a problem with the concept design.
Comparing to the iterator concepts, we always have the Mutable
version of the
concept be a refinement of the not-necessarily mutable version.
I think it would be appropriate to change LvaluePropertyMapConcept
to require the reference to be convertible to the const&, but not
require same type.

Hello,
I'm having problems with the LvaluePropertyMapConcept.
I expected that following code should compile:
#include <boost/vector_property_map.hpp>
int main(){
using namespace boost;
typedef vector_property_map<int> tSillyVecMap;
function_requires<LvaluePropertyMapConcept<tSillyVecMap, size_t> >();
}
Instead it bails out with an assertion from inside the LvaluePropertyMapConcept:
Error: no matching call to »assertion_failed(mpl_::failed************
boost::is_same<const int&, int&>::************)«
It comes from that piece of code:
