This insures that the code at least is compliable. How often have you pull some example code, to find out it doesn't compile, let alone work. I think this would be a good standard to push for boost. I wouldn't mind volunteering to document some of the other boost classes using the above method.

Nested Boost Binds

I'm new to boost libraries, sorry if this is an off topic question. I have the following problem: I want to call method from the PDC class indirectly from another class (Component). Method1 from the Component class should be invoked by asynchronous timer. When I do call like this: y.Method1(10, boost::bind (DPC::Print1, &x, 2)); Everything works When I do call like this: t.async_wait(boost::bind(boost::bind(DPC::Print1,&x, 2), &t)); Everything works either But when I try to perform indirect call of Print1 from Method1 which is called by a timer compiler reports a lot of bugs in the boost::bind code (see part of the log) t.async_wait(boost::bind(boost::bind(Component::Method1, &y, 10, boost::bind (DPC::Print1, &x, 2)), &t)); or t.async_wait(boost::bind(Component::Method1, &y, 10, boost::bind (DPC::Print1, &x, 2), &t)); Maybe somebody had the similar problem before or knows how to solve it. The following unexpectedly(?) links and run: --- #include <boost/test/auto_unit_test.hpp> boost::unit_test::test_suite* init_unit_test_suite( int, char*[] ) { boost::unit_test::framework::master_test_suite().p_name.value = "whatever"; return 0; } --- Don't I need to define BOOST_TEST_MAIN in this case? [database] - guid class

I can not find a guid/uuid class. Is there a guid/uuid class out there? I develop with Windows and found the strut GUID in <guiddef.h>, but I am looking for a class that has the member functions one would expect with a value class (ie comparison, equality, ...). I created a simple guid class and I am wondering if any one else would find it useful. I have read on this list about a proposed database library and I believe that it should have a guid class. Hi, While working on Boost.Test documentation update I've realized that there is no substantial reason anymore to keep this component around. The Unit Test Framework work just as well and does not require any more effort. Here is an example: Using the Test Execution Monitor: ---------------------------------- #include <boost/test/test_exec_monitor.cpp> int test_main( int, char* [] ) { /// your testing is here return 0; } Using the Unit Test Framework: ---------------------------------- #define BOOST_TEST_MAIN #include <boost/test/unit _test.cpp> BOOST_AUTO_TEST_CASE( my_test ) { /// your testing is here } There are monor preferences for either solution (test_main look like main, but require return statement and argument specifications). But from usability standpoint they are similar. I know that many Boost developers are using this component. So I would like to hear community opinion. If nobody speak up I am planning to depricate this component (first from documentation in 1.34, an from source code in 1.36) Regards, Gennadiy

JFYI, I've checked in the attached trivial patch. It adds one missing #include (I get compile error without it) and fixes a couple of "signed/unsigned comparison" warnings. - Volodya
