Hi Boosters, here is my review summary so far, in form of a TODO list and sketches how the next generation interface will look like. I hope I did not forget anything important. I used 'pof' (plain old functional, inspired by 'pod') in the naming to refer to what was previously called "function types". Not sure this - and the names in general - are good (pof gives a fine namespace name, though). Comments are welcome, of course! ptr_container compilation problem

The vacpp compiler warns me that on line 40 of void_ptr_iterator.hpp: <quote> 'iterator_category' cannot be declared because its name has already been used' </quote> because of following statement typedef typename iterator_category<T>::type iterator_category ; and this sounds reasonable to me. toon

[conversion] Borland cast_test failure

The reason for the failure is simple - Borland compiler cannot handle default template parameters for nested templates. I could not find a quick workaround, so suggest marking this test as 'expected fail' unless there is some codefrom an older version for it to fall back on. -- AlisdairM

Pre-Built library size for all targets

Does anyone have a good sense of what it would take to "store" all the prebuilt libs from all the targets? I am wondering about this, because I am wondering what it would take in disk space to put up a web server will all the boost libs prebuilt on it?

There are two things I need for a project I'm currently doing. I'm curious if anyone thinks this could be added to the package boost.any, either in the class boost::any or as a separate class, as well as whether it would be of use to anyone else. :) 1. Implicit conversions to/from pointers and references. 2. Support for user-defined conversion hooks when using any_cast. These would be defined in terms of the contained type, not the converted-to type. Both are possible (I've already done it), but will have a runtime performance impact: * Two additional [inline] function calls and two comparisons per conversion, even if the types are the same. * Additional memory overhead to store information about the type (about sizeof(pointer)*6 per instance of boost::any). * Storage of user-defined conversions (in function pointers or function objects).
