wrote I'd like a website that holds the attention of the casual comer. A newbiewith just a passing knowledge of what Boost is might be scared by the contents of boost.org and never return back; a more friendly site, with forums and stuff, is a more agreeable place to hang around and eventually decide to try Boost for real.
that has to be http://bike-shed.boost.org :-)
Well, I'm sorry this is perceived as bike shedding :( To be more specific, my wishes boil down to having a site with forums, anonymous posting to the forums and some easy way for users (not necessarily Boost authors) to upload their contributions in the form of Boost articles. But this would legitimise bike-shedding! (For those not familiar with the bike shed concept . it is described in the document :) http://www.boost.org/more/discussion_policy.htm "Avoid Parkinson's Bicycle Shed. Parkinson described a committee formed to oversee design of an early nuclear power plant. There were three agenda items - when to have tea, where to put the bicycle shed, and how to ensure nuclear safety. Tea was disposed of quickly as trivial. Nuclear safety was discussed for only an hour - it was so complex, scary, and technical that even among experts few felt comfortable with the issues. Endless days were then spent discussing where to put the bicycle shed (the parking lot would be a modern equivalent) because everyone understood the issues and felt comfortable discussing them. " Seriously.. I realise this could be taken the wrong way... sorry about that. But it works for me... :-) regards Andy Little
