how to know which libraries to link?
HI, im newbie with boost, i have a doubt about how to know which libraries u have to link when u compile a cpp file, in the example below for example which would be the libraries to link? i do for example c++ -I boostdirectory myfile.cpp -o myfile [ and here? ]. Im working with ubuntu, and boost 4.0 thanks // // timer.cpp // ~~~~~~~~~ // // Copyright (c) 2003-2008 Christopher M. You may need to link to boost_date_time and boost_system. The easiest way to tell is to try to link and look at the namespaces of any undefined symbols.
// // timer.cpp // ~~~~~~~~~ // // Copyright (c) 2003-2008 Christopher M. Kohlhoff (chris at kohlhoff dot com) // // Distributed under the Boost Software License, Version 1.0. (See accompanying // file LICENSE_1_0.txt or copy at http://www.boost.org/LICENSE_1_0.txt) //
#include <iostream> #include <boost/asio.hpp> #include <boost/date_time/posix_time/posix_time.hpp>
int main() { boost::asio::io_service io;
boost::asio::deadline_timer t(io, boost::posix_time::seconds(5)); t.wait();
std::cout << "Hello, world!\n";
return 0; }

Holà ! You'll find a complete answer here : <http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_40_0/more/getting_started/unix-variants.html#link-your-program-to-a-boost-library>

Boost 4.0 doesn't exists, do you mean 1.40 ? ;) -- Mickaël Wolff aka Lupus Michaelis Racine <http://lupusmic.org> Blog <http://blog.lupusmic.org>
