Is anyone going to tell me the way to set the WINDOWS variables for BOOST?

Hi, in the boost directory named "boost_1_33_1" I 've downloaded, which directories do I have to indicate to the variables INCLUDE and LIB in order to set them? THANK YOU VERY MUCH, David _________________________________________________________________ Retrouvez Windows Live Messenger sur votre mobile ! http://www.messengersurvotremobile.com

Hi, You should just set the BOOSTROOT environment variable to {YourPath}\boost_1_33_1 The header files are in {YourPath}\boost_1_33_1\boost and the libraries (you must build them) are in {YourPath}\boost_1_33_1\bin\lib. Regards, ~Benoît question boost wrote:

Hi, It's not the answer I am looking for. Look at here http://miles.developpez.com/tutoriels/cpp/boost/ At chapter 3 they talk about the directories INCLUDE and LIBS. In the directory of the source files of my project (C:\Documents and Settings\src) , there is the directory named "boost" which contains the following: the directories "filesystem", "iterator", "range", "detail", "mpl", and the "boost-buid.jam" file. On my desktop Windows I 've downloaded the directory "boost_1_33_1" which contains the directory "boost_1_33_1" which contains the directories "boost","docs","libs","more","people","regression","status","tools","wiki" and several other files. My question is: which directories must I indicate to the environment variables INCLUDE and LIBS they talk at chapter 3 http://miles.developpez.com/tutoriels/cpp/boost/ ? I can't be more clear. THANK YOU VERY MUCH, David.

Sorry... I cant read French very well. The official documents explain it all: http://boost.org/more/getting_started/windows.html On Windows, I do the following to build boost in its simplest form: 1) start a cmd prompt and run the vcvars32.bat for the microsoft compiler I am using. This will set up all necessary compiler and linker environment variables. You can find this batch file in one of the subdirectories of the compiler installation (each version is a bit different). For example, in MS VS .Net 2003, this batch file is located at: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003\Vc7\bin 2) from the root of the boost directory, issue a bjam command such as: bjam --toolset=msvc-7.1 (the above is an example for MS Visual Studio .Net 2003 (a.k.a Version 7.1). Thats it.

I may have misinterpreted your previous question. To build your libraries and organize the built libs and includes for subsequent use, you can issue a: bjam --toolset=msvc-7.1 stage The stage option, will cause the build process to copy all the built libraries into a single subdirectory tree of boost named "stage". To build a project to use your boost libraries, your "include" directories should now point to boost_1_34_1\boost and your "Lib" directories should now point to boost_1_34_1\stage\lib
