Also, it would be nice if the portions of the current release which work with gcc 4.x were identified as part of the "getting started" documentation.
I don't think it makes sense to single out gcc 4.x, since there are lots of other compilers, and the answers may be different for each x. I *do* think it would make sense if there were a prominent section called, "What works on my compiler?" that has some preliminary explanation and a link to: http://engineering.meta-comm.com/boost-regression/1_33_0/user/summary_releas... suitably adjusted for 1.34, of course. I will definitely cover this in my talk, thanks!
Also a pointer to the "LIBS= --with-foo_library" bjam option
I recognize "--with-foo_library," but what is "LIBS=" supposed to to?
or the configure script "--with-libraries=foo_library" option would be helpful in working around the compile errors with gcc 4.x.
Doesn't the table at http://www.boost.org/more/getting_started.html#step5 contain a pointer to the --with-foo_library option? -- Dave Abrahams Boost Consulting www.boost-consulting.com
