You should better ask for building only the libraries you need: by default bjam builds debug/non-debug, single/multi-thread, static/dynamic... and all combinations which is a lot.
It does not do that, since 1.36, or maybe even since 1.35. Now it's release MT static/dynamic. - Volodya
